Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath Drive Highlights
13 days Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath Drive Overview
Embark on the enticing walking journey in surprisingly diverse trekking trail through valleys, gorges, passes, and multi – ethnic villages. This is the only trekking trail where a trekker starts the journey in one famous valley and ends in the other. In the heart of the Annapurna region of Nepal, the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath route is blessed by the towering mountains. Find the mountain solitude in the trail even if it is one of the major commercial trekking routes of Nepal. Breathe the chill mountain air and behold the spectacular harmony between mountains and people living peacefully guarding each other.
The trail binds the Manang Valley and Mustang Valley so majestically that trekkers can experience diverse landscapes in one single trip. The journey is not limited as a walking trip rather the trip is exclusively for those who are seeking the ultimate peace in life. Fill the hearts with the pure serenity of Mother Nature and knit the travel tale full of people’s stories, mountain chills, and adventures of conquering the high – altitude mountain pass.
Amazing Manang Valley Trek in Nepal
The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath starts from the exploration of the Manang Valley. The valley is so rich in bio – diversity, landscape variations, and multi – ethnic villages. Over the years, the Mustang Valley is popular to lots of people from across the globe. However, the Manang Valley was not popular similar to that of the Mustang Valley even if it is in the Nepal’s oldest trekking route. Nowadays, the Manang Valley is getting lots of attention and visitors are increasing. The construction of road network to the Manang Village has changed the face of the valley. However, it has also changed the trekking scenario. The trail distance of the Annapurna Circuit Trek has dropped significantly. While the road is boon to the locals but curse to the trekking trail, people are slowly finding ways to balance the situation.
Therefore, the travel planners of the Nepal Trekking Rangers have carefully knitted the itinerary in such a way that trekkers can feel the original authenticity. Our walking route is slightly different from the regular Annapurna Circuit Trek operators. The Nepal Trekking Rangers has trained its guides in such a way that they take trekkers from the off the beaten path instead of road wherever it is possible.
Upper Pisang and Ngawal Village Route: Scenic Annapurna Circuit Trek section
The route to the Manang Village is easy if you take the Humde village area as the trail is on the road. However, it may not provide the authentic trekking experiences. Therefore, our trekking itinerary of the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath Temple follows the route of the Upper Pisang and Ngawal Village. This way of reaching the Manang Village is slightly challenging as there are steep uphill sections. After enduring such hardship, the view seen from the Ngawal Village and Upper Pisang is unmatched. The sight of the river valleys and mountains looks like a canvas of a beautiful painting.
Trail conditions & Best Time for the Annapurna Circuit Trek
Choose the months of spring (March – May) and autumn (September – November) season for spectacular experiences. Normally, the trail remains dry which make it easy for trekkers to trek properly without any hiccups. The day time temperature during these months is about 15 to 20 degree Celsius but the nighttime temperature ranges from 0 degree Celsius to 5 degree Celsius depending upon the places. Higher places like the Thorong Phedi and High Camps are usually colder than in the low – altitude places.
Thorong La Pass Crossing Tips and Tricks
The adventurous section of the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath is the Thorong La Pass (5416 m). The pass is one of the longest passes of Nepal and it is famous among trekkers from across the globe. Therefore, some trekkers know the Annapurna Circuit Trek in Nepal as the Thorong La Pass Trek. The best way to cross the Thorong La Pass is by starting the trek from Thorong High Camp instead of Thorong Phedi. However, staying overnight in the High Camp can be difficult. If you stay in the Thorong Phedi then choose to start the hike early in the morning around 3:30 am. We always offer flexible options to our clients but ensure that our clients are safe and physically fit.
Muktinath Temple and Mustang Valley Tour
On the other side of the Thorong La Pass (5416 m), the Mustang Valley welcomes trekkers. It is the spiritual valley where you can find the pilgrimage site of both Hindus and Buddhists. After an adventurous trekking trip, trekkers can get an amazing chance to witness the great religious harmony prevalent in Nepal. Inside the Hindu temple, you can find the Buddhists praying the same god but with different name. The Muktinath temple which is also known as the place for liberation, Hindus worship Lord Vishnu whereas in the same temple Buddhists worship Lord Avalokitsvera.
Kaligandaki River and Shaligram (Fossil)
The Kali Gandaki River which flows downstream from the Muktinath Temple is the only place where you can find lots of fossil. According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu incarnated as a stone and was found on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. These fossils are famously known as the Shaligrams which are sacred to Hindus. Interestingly, the banks of Kaligandaki River near the Muktinath Temple are the only place where you can find such type of Shaligrams or fossils. All these events and places make the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath a spiritual walking journey combined with the wonders of Mother Nature.

What to Expect
The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath Drive offers some of the most beautiful and colorful trekking scenery, some of the most diversified natural scenery, and culturally diverse parts of Nepal. From the lower Marsyangdi Valley, which is abundant with dense forests and torrential rivers, the trekkers witness the whole transformation that a vast landscape has to offer while trekking deeper into the dry highland plateaus of Manang and Mustang. The pièce de résistance of the trek is Thorong La Pass (5,416 meters)—one of the highest crossable trekking passes in the world and a demanding ascent with fabulous views of Annapurna II, III, and IV, Tilicho Peak, Gangapurna, and even the collapse of Dhaulagiri.
Culturally vibrant villages along the way, like Ngawal, Braga, and Manang, still bear the Tibetan-dominated way of life. The ancient Braga Monastery, prayer wheels, mani walls, and flowing prayer flags all testify to the Buddhist cultural history of the region. The trek ends at sacred Muktinath Temple, a place of pilgrimage to which Hindus and Buddhists alike come in droves to the temple that contains an ever-burning flame and consists of 108 water spouts. It's as much a physical place as it is a spiritual one, and one that offers an experience second to none for trekkers to unwind and absorb the culture.
Be ready for arduous trekking days of up to 9 hours, depending on the terrain and height. The route is easy, although there are steep ascents and rocky paths, especially around Thorong La. There are plenty and truly more than sufficient acclimatization days incorporated into the itinerary as part of the trek that offer good vantage points, e.g., the optional climb to Ice Lake (4,600 m) and Chhongkar Viewpoint. Adequate fitness levels are needed, but experience in trekking can be advantageous, though not necessary.
Teahouses continue to be found in remote villages where basic yet clean accommodations exist, shared twin rooms with shared bathroom facilities, and shared dining halls serve local, filling foods like dal bhat, noodle soup, momos, and even cake in villages like Manang. This is a form of teahouse trekking in Nepal that is a close-up and intimate experience with a local host and mountain life daily.
Instead of trekking the entire loop, this choice enjoys a scenic drive by jeep from Muktinath to Pokhara. It shortened the distance in time and provided even fleeting glimpses of the world's deepest, the Kali Gandaki Gorge. The trek rapidly transports you from dry highlands, specifically, to green hills and terraced fields and offers you another thrilling segment of Nepal's great panorama.
Seasonal weather is experienced. Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most suitable seasons to try the Annapurna Circuit Trek, during which the weather is generally clear and high-altitude trekking is pleasant with pleasant temperatures. It is below 3,500 meters at night, and layers will need to be worn.
Apart from the trek and scenery of the country, this trek is actually distinguished by the immense sense of spiritual self and personal development one feels from this trek. Having been at the base of the towering peaks of the Annapurnas, traversing sacred Thorong La, or lighting a butter lamp at Muktinath Temple, the memories and experience one derives from this trek last a lifetime.
Best Season to Trek
Spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Nov) are the best times to hike the Annapurna Circuit. The time is ideal for:
Spring (Mar–May): Witness rhododendron flowers, pleasant weather, and secure Thorong La Pass hikes.
Autumn (Sep–Nov): Experience the best Himalayan scenery view, blue sky, and celebratory attitudes like Dashain and Tihar.
Winter (Dec–Feb): Worst since there is much rain and slush at high elevations.
Monsoon (Jun–Aug): Steer clear of trekking since it rains, has leeches, and has low-altitude landslides.
Trekking Difficulty
The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath Drive is a challenging trek for experienced trekkers seeking a high-altitude trek with no technical climbing. The trail is mixed; some days you’ll trek ascents, and some days the trail is quite easy, but the toughest section is the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), which consists of a very long, steep, and tough day with some stamina and altitude sensitivity. Though prior experience on the trek is to be preferred, it is not essential if you are well prepared, maintain an even pace, and acclimatize. You will be trekking between 4 and 9 hours daily. And driving back from Muktinath shortens the itinerary so that it becomes less strenuous than the full circuit, which is ideal for the short-time visitor who wants to experience one of Nepal's most popular trekking trails.
Food and Accommodation on Trek
Accommodation
The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath Drive lodgings are typical mountain teahouses functioning as a local community. Teahouses offer quite simple and cozy accommodation. Most rooms are twin-sharing with basic beds and blankets, and bathrooms are common in nature. However, the amenities are a bit better where there is a larger population in some villages like Chame, Manang, and Muktinath. Eating takes place in common halls beside fireplaces, where trekkers from all over the world gather, socialize, and share experiences.
Food
Food is kept simple and filling, ranging from possibilities of soup, dal bhat (rice, lentils, and vegetables), Tibetan bread, noodles, soups, momos (dumplings), and pasta. There are bakeries for apple pie, cakes, and coffee. Vegetarian meals are generally available, alongside purified water sold or available through refill stations along the trail. Facilities will get rather basic as you head up in altitude, but the hospitality with which you are treated always remains, rendering food and accommodation along the Annapurna Circuit an immensely rewarding cultural experience worth absorbing.
Permits for Trek
To complete the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Muktinath Drive, you need two official trekking permits. They are:

Traveller Review
His quite nature, and taking care of things when and where required.
I spent over one month with Yuddha, his wife and team of assistants on treks and religious travel namely i) Annapurna , 5 days ii) Pokhara and Muktinath, 8 days and iii) Everest Base Camp and Three Passes, 19 days. I must say that my wife and I had wonderful time with Yuddha and his family. Yuddha is a true professional and goes out of way to make things happen. During my time there were several weather related events but Yuddha was able to find solutions for each adverse situation and allow us to continue our journey. He is flexible with timeline, providing facilities and help. My wife also stayed with his family while I was on trek. She thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality provided by his wife.
Prakash B 20th Oct, 2026 Great holiday on the roof of the world
Yuddha the company owner has taken care of everything from domestic flights to car transfers, hotels etc. He has put together a very individual trip that has left nothing to be desired. Also the hike Anapourna Circuit was perfectly organized. I can only recommend this company to anyone who wants to travel to Nepal individually.
Laura B 12th Aug, 2026 A Guide Who Truly Spreads Light
Yuddha is the best guide I have ever met. He is sensitive, very experienced, and always cheerful. He answered my questions with openness, honesty, and kindness. He paid close attention to our group’s needs, and I felt completely safe under his guidance. He booked wonderful accommodations for us and handled the meals very professionally as well. I hope I’ll get the chance to hike with him again — I really miss our conversations. 😊

I first met him as a customer during the trek, and by the end of the trip, we had become friends.Yuddha was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the experience. Even after the tour ended, he continued to check in and offer extra care and help, which really meant a lot. His information, guidance, and genuine concern made the whole trip smooth and memorable. He is a truly nice guy—down to earth, mellow, and easy to be around. You can tell he genuinely cares about his clients and his work. I highly recommend Nepal Trekking Rangers and especially Yuddha to anyone planning a trek in Nepal. I sincerely hope his business continues to grow strong—he deserves it.
